Actual evidence that high school boys DO look at what people are wearing. This was overheard in my classroom today:
Boy #1 to Boy #2: Dude! You wear that shirt ALL THE TIME!
Boy #2: Dude! You wear that FACE all the time.

Day 7 - March 30
What can I say about this outfit? Even I am beginning to wonder if I can wear this thing for 9 weeks. I actually just threw on the dress, a shirt over the top, a pair of tights and comfy shoes and called it good. Not my best look ever.
The only comment I got today was "You look tired"... from more than one person. And ya know what? I am tired.
And I was in Target tonight and they had the cutest spring scarves on sale for $10, but I had to control my inner impulse shopper. No purchases until after the dress experiment is over.
Materialism is on display as much as anything else here, folks.
Day 6 - March 29
No pic today, sorry Sally!
Very uneventful day on the dress front. Just pluggin' along with under 8 weeks to go! I cannot believe how fast this year has gone.
We are currently preparing for state assessment in Biology classes. The big test is next Tuesday, April 6th. A&P classes are preparing for our field trip to the cadaver lab in Concordia on April 7th by doing an online forensic investigation. Yesterday a guest speaker, Mr. David Coffman for the Neil-Schwennson-Rook Funeral Home came to 8th hour and talked to us about becoming and being a mortician. Very interesting info and conversation! Hopefully he will get to come to 5th hour today.
So good to see the sun this morning! I am excited for it to warm up so I do not to have to wear tights everyday. Uugh.

Day 4 - March 25
Student Council sponsored a Red Cross Blood Drive today. We had a great turn out! I feel so fortunate that we are able to provide this type of experience for students. It's all about trying something new, stepping outside your comfort zone to help others, or maybe just learning how to be a good volunteer - one who goes beyond the "I did as little as possible in order to get out of class" to the land of "I pitched in and cheerfully helped out today wherever I was needed, and then went happily on my way when my shift was over".
Thanks to all the students who participated. Even bigger thanks to the staff and faculty that put up with the extra chaos today.
The dress made the extra miles today too. However, I was glad to see my sweats and slippers when I got home!

Day 3 - March 24th
Day 3 - I don't think anyone is really onto me yet. There is one staff member who knows because I had told her about my idea for this experiment a long time ago - she asked me on Day 2 if I was doing it.
Another female staff member complimented me on my outfit on Day 1 and Day 2. Today she started to say something to me and then just sort of looked away, so I'm not sure what she might have been thinking.
I walked around today thinking, "Hmm. If that person had been wearing the same thing for the last few days I would have NO idea. For that matter, if that person had worn the same thing every day for the past YEAR I would have no idea."
This may not ever amount to anything. I'm keeping my mouth shut until someone says something to me about it. They will have to make observations and then ask questions. Maybe this is more of a "social" experiment that a scientific one?

Day 2 - March 23rd
Day 2 brought some new insight to the science lesson behind this experiment. There is no picture for this post because I discovered that I had left the memory card in the computer from the previous night instead of putting it back into the camera before we took the next photo. It's true - here's how I used science to figure this out.
Make Observations - no picture available for blog today. memory card not in camera when I went to upload photo, memory card still located in computer slot
Ask questions - I know we took a picture yesterday morning, why is there no picture available?
Form a Hypothesis - If I leave the memory card in the computer slot instead of returning it to the camera, then the pictures we are taking will not get recorded.
Design an Experiment - Take a picture with memory card in camera. Write the result on data sheet. Take a picture with memory card NOT in camera. Write the result on data sheet.
Variables: (Ask yourself these two questions: What changes in the experiment? What can I measure in this experiment?) The memory card and the photos are my variables.
More detail: The memory card is the Independent Variable and the photos are the Dependent Variable. (Remember: IV effects DV, DV does not effect IV)
Analyze Data - The picture taken with the memory card in the camera was recorded, the picture taken without the memory card in the camera was not recorded.
Draw a conclusion - The memory card must be installed in the camera, not left in the computer from the previous night's post in order for the pictures to be available for posting to the blog.
Publish data - here ya go.
Data confirmed by other scientists - In this case, probably not necessary, but in real world science I would need others to repeat my experiment and get the same results before my hypothesis could be combined with other hypothesis related to the subject and become a theory or law.

Day 1- March 22nd
First day. Very comfy dress!
Tomorrow (Day 2) will be the first real test. Brian and I are placing bets on when/who will be the first person to comment or question if I am wearing the same dress every day. Brian says it will be a female student, could even be as early as tomorrow. My bet is that it will be a male student, but not until later in the week.
Here is a picture of Julia and I this morning. Geesh. I need a haircut.

This is the dress
I purchased this dress online from a company called Athleta. It is 95% cotton and 5% spandex, a little bit stretchy. I got the tall length so it hits right below my knee.
Other purchases for my "spring wardrobe" include 2 sweaters from old navy, several pairs of tights and 3 pairs of shoes at Kohl's/Offbroadway Shoes.
I think I'm set. I plan to buy nothing else new during the experiment. Everything else will be from my existing wardrobe.
Tomorrow will be the first day to wear the dress to school. It is not out of the ordinary for me to wear dresses or skirts, I wear them pretty frequently.
I think I will wash and dry my dress tonight though, just in case something funky happens in the wash. Plus, I can see in the picture here that I already got a spot on it. Oops. First of many, I'm sure.
